It's just fabulous how that clutter can turn one or two drawers into a delightful storage party of documents overload. And lets be honest, when you finally muster up the courage to tackle that mess, youll absolutely wish you've had a shredder but all we can bless are these good old folders, scissors and cardboard boxes as wastebasket.

Das eigene Archiv noch nicht mal vollstndig sortiert und digitalisiert, bekam ich gestern nochmal ein Paket: Briefe u. andere persnliche Dokumente, alle so um die 80 bis 120 Jahre alt. Und dazu nochmal so um die zwanzig Umschlge mit Negativen aus den 1970er und 1980er Jahren...
Heute Nacht konnte ich ohnehin nicht gut schlafen, also bin ich um kurz nach 04:30 Uhr aufgestanden und mich, bewaffnet mit frisch gekochtem Kaffee, Papierleim, Klebefilm, TippEx, Tinten und Lichtschutzspray bewaffnet, die ersten Papiere zum Umkopieren und digitalisieren vorzubereiten. Mit der hier abgebildeten Geburtsurkunde aus dem Jahr 1909 habe ich mal den Anfang gemacht. Und das ist noch eines der besser erhaltenen Dokumente...
Ich entdecke gerade eine weitere zeitfressende Leidenschaft, glaub ich. Aber: den alten Menschen und/oder ihren Verwandten, die mir diese ihre privatesten Schriftstcke und Bilder zugetragen haben, macht es Freude. Und sowas, genau sowas, freut mich dann wieder. Und zwar aus dem tiefsten Innern!

Tonight I couldn't sleep well anyway, so I got up shortly after 04:30 and, armed with freshly made coffee, , adhesive film, , inks and uv spray, prepared the very first papers for copying and digitizing. I started with a 'Certificate of Birth' from 1909 as shown here. And that's one of the better preserved documents...
Btw: The old people or their relatives, who have herewith given me some of their most private documents and pictures, enjoy it. And something like that, exactly that, makes me happy. In my deepest inner being.
